What are the floral doodles?

Floral doodles are art forms that involve drawing simple and easy flowers, leaves, and other botanical elements. These doodles are typically created in a whimsical and playful style, using different shapes, lines, and colors to depict various floral designs.

Floral doodles can be drawn in a variety of materials, including pen and ink, pencil, markers, or digitally. They can be incorporated into a variety of art forms, such as journals, scrapbooks, or standalone works of art.

They are a popular choice for people who want to express their creativity and bring a touch of nature into their artwork.

Floral doodles can be created by anyone, regardless of their artistic ability or experience, making them a fun and accessible way to explore the world of art.

Gather your Floral Doodle inspiration

Gathering your floral doodling motifs can be a fun and creative process.

Here are a few tips to help you get started:

  1. Look to nature for inspiration: Take a walk in a garden or park and observe the different flowers, plants, and foliage around you. You will notice the shapes, colors, and textures of the different plants and look for ways to incorporate them into your doodles.

  2. Browse online: There are many online resources, such as Pinterest and Instagram, that showcase different floral designs and motifs. Search for floral doodles or botanical illustrations to get ideas and inspiration for your own work.

  3. Explore different styles: Look at different styles of floral design, such as Art Nouveau or Japanese woodblock prints, and try to incorporate elements of those styles into your doodles.

  4. Experiment with different materials: Try doodling with other materials, such as pens, markers, or watercolors, you can see how different techniques can create different effects and motifs.

By exploring different sources of inspiration, you can find a floral doodling motif that refines your unique style and creativity.

Simple shapes turn into beautiful floral doodles

Simple shapes can form the basis for floral doodles because they provide a framework for creating more complex designs.

So using basic shapes, such as circles, ovals, triangles, and rectangles, you can create a wide variety of floral designs.

For example, a circle can be used as the basis for creating a sunflower, while a triangle can be used to create a leaf.

So combining different shapes and adding details, you can create intricate and beautiful floral designs.

Using simple shapes as the foundation for floral doodles also makes the process more accessible for beginners.

Starting with a basic shape provides a starting point and a sense of direction, making it easier to create a cohesive design.

Additionally, it allows you to focus on the details and the individual elements of the design, rather than worrying about the overall composition.

With practice, you can use these simple shapes as a sketchbook or Procreate canvas to create more complex and unique floral designs.

How to add details and layers to floral doodle

Create layers of petals, leaves, or stems to add depth and dimension to your floral doodles. Start with the base layer and add more details and layers on top of it. When you add petals, you will notice the outline of the petal shapes is not a perfect line, imperfect shape, and little details are not the same.

Experiment with Different Styles

Once I create a lined floral or sketch, I always experiment with adding a different style of coloring. Such as adding watercolor style, flat lay style using simple color drops, or oil painting style using the dry brush, etc. That’s why I use Procreate for my drawing and it comes in so handy and effective.

Practice and refine your skills and creativity

From my experience, I practiced floral doodling first and moved on to other objects based on this step.

Here are 5 tips for refining your skills and creating more intricate floral doodles for beginners:

  1. Practice regularly: The more you practice, the better you’ll become at creating floral doodles. Set aside some time each day or week to practice and experiment with different techniques.

  2. Study floral designs: Look at different floral designs and motifs, both in nature and in art, to get a better understanding of the shapes and details that make up different flowers and foliage.

  3. Experiment with different materials: Try using different pencils, pens, markers, and paints to see how they affect the look of your floral doodles. You may find that certain media work better for creating specific textures or details.

  4. Use references: Look up reference images of different flowers and foliage to help you create more accurate and detailed doodles. This can be especially helpful when you’re first starting out.

  5. Break it down: Break down complex floral designs into smaller, simpler shapes and elements. This can help you focus on one element at a time, making it easier to create more intricate designs.

By incorporating these tips into your practice, you can refine your skills and create more intricate and beautiful floral doodles over time.

Remember to be patient and enjoy the process, as creating art is a journey, not a destination.

Which floral doodles I can draw?

Here are 5 examples of easy and cute floral doodles, especially spring flowers. When I chose the floral doodles, the First thing I did, was look for some inspirational photos of nature around me or on the internet like Pinterest, Instagram, etc. You can browse and find your inspiration.

  1. Dandelions: Draw a few stems with circles on top to represent the dandelion flowers. Add some small dots around the circles to create the look of the tiny petals.

  2. Cherry Blossoms: Draw a few branches with small oval shapes on the ends to represent the blossoms. Add small lines coming out from the ovals to create the look of petals.

  3. Tulips: Draw a few stems with large oval shapes on the ends. Add a small circle in the center of the oval shape to create the tulip’s center. Draw a few lines coming out from the circle to create the look of petals.

  4. Daffodils: Draw a few stems with trumpet-shaped flowers on top. Add some small lines inside the trumpet shape to create the look of petals.

  5. Bluebells: Draw a few stems with bell-shaped flowers on top. Add some small lines inside the bell shape to create the look of petals.
