Acts of kindness in our daily life.

Acts of Kindness can brighten the day of anyone, giver or receiver. Today we’re going to show you some ideas for kindness that will brighten up your daily life.

We live in a chaotic age of isolation and distance, faceless masks, and generalized stress. We all want social connections in our minds. In order to escape from this feeling of social isolation, we can escape by spreading kindness in our daily life.

The importance of kindness

If you look at the news in Korea these days, you can see that the upcoming presidential election is a bit noisy and very divided. Also here in Australia, there is a lot of debate with different opinions. I think it is the same situation in any country.

In this often fragmented world, kindness easily goes unnoticed. It is more difficult to see the smile, which is the main sign of kindness, on the face of a masked stranger. And at a time when social distancing is farther away than ever, it seems that we have more reasons to practice kindness.

Being kind to others can also benefit your own mental and physical health. According to scientists, when you do something good for someone, you feel good because kindness releases dopamine, the mood-enhancing hormone.

Helping others can free you from the stress that affects your life. When you treat others kindly, you feel better connected. This helps unite us, not separate us. There are kind and compassionate ways, and many opportunities to put them into practice.

How to practice kindness in your daily life

We often say kindness costs nothing and is highly contagious. The ripple effect brought by kindness makes people around us smile as well as ourselves.

Say hello to your neighbors.

What if you see a small child or a cute puppy on the road? Do you wave your hand or bark a smile? Saying hello or waving like this is a sign of kindness. Say hello or wave to neighbors you run into with mailboxes or cashiers at your local grocery store.

Letting someone know that you see yourself can have a positive impact on their day and can have a positive impact on how they perceive themselves.

Try calling instead of texting or emailing.

In today’s world, it’s easy to communicate via text or email. Say hello to your family, acquaintances, or friends, sometimes with a voice or video call. Showing your face or letting others hear you can be a huge benefit to your mental health. Both parties will feel more engaged and your words will make more sense. For many of us, this is the closest we can get to our loved ones.

Express gratitude to those around you.

We often only say the things we need to say without an expression. When paying for a pack of coffee at a cafe or paying at a gas station, I don’t talk much to other people I meet. It seems to have gotten worse since the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you have been asked by the cashier at the grocery, coffee shop, pharmacy, or gas station, “how you are doing?”, Please answer them. Ask them “how their day is going?”, even if they don’t ask you first.

A word like “Hello” or “How is it going?” becomes a way to express gratitude to each other. If you can afford it, thank them for what they are doing in these difficult times.

Make good purchases from good brands.

There is a saying that it is a good store/brand. These are shops that do a little bit of kindness for the community.

Don’t you want to participate too? For example, you can make a good purchase by purchasing company products that are practiced for animal protection, purchasing eco-friendly products, or using eco-bags instead of luxury leather bags.

Give praise.

How do feel when you received compliments from others? Have you ever felt that your pride and warmth?

So, try this kindness first. You will see that you are happier when you give than when you receive. Say a word about how you handled your co-worker’s work. Your relationship with your co-workers will grow closer, and your co-workers will treat you positively. It makes you smile too, and it has the effect of letting someone know you appreciate the little things.

You have to be kind to yourself in order to be kind to others.

We have to wonder why kindness is so important. February 17th was World Kindness Day. On this day, I thought about kindness again.

In times of uncertainty like these days, we are far from remaining. Also, we often underestimate ourselves because we are a bit restricted in the evaluation of ourselves. Are you underestimating yourself by saying “I’m not pretty”, “I’m not smart”, “I’m not rich”? Be kind to yourself with a grateful heart.

The bottom line is that you deserve kindness and that’s the first thing you do for your own well-being. It’s also a good way to say thank you for your hard work today on the way home from work.

Keep a diary and try to develop a habit of encouraging and praising yourself for at least one sentence a day.

How are you showing kindness? Please leave comments.
