The future log setup allows you to see a year or a few years into the future at a glance. The future log is one of the most important setups and most-used pages in your art journal. This is where you will plan your future and organize your upcoming year.
There are many ways to set up your future log, plus there are a few alternatives you might want to try. Some people use year calendars like digital planners. I am posting and creating future logs and monthly calendars for the page widgets continually.
What to write on your future log setup
As I found, the future log is similar to a yearly plan. However, I prefer to create the future log for the year myself rather than use a pre-designed yearly plan page. Many of you feel like the pre-made yearly plan page is too businesslike.
So, if I don’t have any meetings or business trips, do I even need this page? I questioned myself too.
Well, from my experience, the answer is “yes, good to have”
Here are some of the ideas on what you can add to your future log:
Bill deadlines
Birthdays
National holidays
Anniversaries
Regular Doctor appointments for Health check
Planned travel
Netflix, YouTube subscription
Important college dates (exams, assignment deadlines)
Expiration dates for credit cards, and car insurance.
Pet vaccination dates
Community activities
Yearly sales dates
Business meetings
I’m sure, you’ll be able to come up with some other things that you usually plan ahead.
The future log is a great way to see your whole year at a glance and a perfect place to plan some big events because usually, just by looking at it, you can get more or less the feeling of how busy your month will be.
How To Setup Your Future Log
There are many ways you can create a future log. Whether you’re focused on writing down a lot of events or if it’s more important for you to have a whole year overview on one or two pages.
If you’re not feeling like writing down all those calendars, just try out our calendar stickers from The Arisu Creator Club member goodies.
Horizontal way
This is definitely the most popular format to use. The Future log has a one-page overview is the most important part of a future log.
The only problem you might have is space. To make sure you fit all 12 months in one spread, you’ll probably need to sacrifice decorating your page.
This is one of my favorite formats to use because I write a one-page overview of important dates and event dates on my future log.
Vertical way
This format allows only 6 months per spread, but you can use the rest of the page for writing all your appointments.
Personally, I don’t need that much space if my future log. But if you are busy people who have many meetings and schedules or students, this format might be useful.
Future log 2023 spread
My free digital journal has been pre-designed in all 12 months and divided the page horizontally as well.
Of course, the downside is that that way, you’ll have less space to write your tasks and appointments. But for me, that’s usually enough space.
Circle way
I’ve been using this format for a long time when I used a traditional bullet journal. Because it looks amazing and is more decorative.
Of course, the downside is that setting up a circle log is a bit difficult. So I have created many circle and wreath widgets(PNG file) to decorate future log spreads easily.
A Free digital bullet journal future log setup
As you can see on our free digital bullet journal future log page, I designed it vertically. There are many different ways to set up pages, as explained above.
Your turn to create a Year Future log
I divided the page that create 12 equal spaces. Add the name of the month and a calendar to each.
Of course, you don’t have to make your future log for a whole year to come, especially if you start your journal in the middle of the year.
You might also need more space if you usually have lots of appointments and stuff to plan, so you always have the option to have only two or even one month per page.
Now it’s time to fill it out!
Here are a few ideas on what you can add to your Future Log:
Annual bills
Appointments
Birthdays
Vacations
National Holidays
Deadlines
Before you move on, make sure you go back and add your future log to your Index. I have added the future log spread on the index page of our free digital bullet journal.
However, you can redesign your future log on a blank page if you want to try a new format.
Resource For Digital Bullet Journal
The setups for the digital bullet journal in this week’s project are very basic and work very well.
